Director, Digital Assets, Strategy & Innovation ABN AMRO

Tom has been working in the financial sector since 2007, initially in client-facing roles for global banks. Since 2011, he has focused on risk management, compliance, and regulation. In 2019, Tom joined ABN AMRO, initially as the Team Lead of the Global Control Room, before progressing to Head of Risk Control within the Corporate Banking client unit, and most recently transitioning to Strategy & Innovation with a focus on Digital Assets. Prior to joining ABN AMRO, he held various advisory roles at UBS, spanning both Investment Bank and Wealth Management divisions in Switzerland and the UK. Tom holds an MBA from INSEAD and a bachelor’s degree in economics. ABN AMRO Bank has been active in the digital assets realm for several years. After a secondary trade of the EIB Bond on Ethereum, ABN issued a tokenized security for their mid-market corporate client, APOC, on a public blockchain. The most recent issuance was a digital green bond for Vesteda, with DekaBank as an investor, also processed on a public blockchain. Following the successful issuances of the bank, Tom is now taking the lead in scaling the digital assets offering for mid-market institutions. Additionally, part of his role is to educate colleagues and clients about the digital asset topic. Tom is also a mentor for the ABN AMRO & Techstars Future of Finance Accelerator programme.
