He spends significant time advising colleagues and policy makers on the legal and regulatory aspects of the use of blockchain in capital markets and is closely involved in HSBC’s asset tokenisation efforts in the UK and EU. As digital assets gain institutional traction, post-trade infrastructure is evolving to meet new demands. This panel will compare the current state of clearing, settlement, and custody in digital asset markets to traditional systems, exploring efforts to bridge the gap between the two. Key topics include the mechanisms supporting digital asset clearing and settlement, regulatory challenges in custody and cross-border processes, and innovations aimed at harmonizing digital and traditional post-trade workflows.
As regulators sharpen their focus on digital asset custody, institutional players must align security, compliance, and operational structures with evolving expectations. This session will unpack how legal frameworks are shaping custody models- from third-party risk management and asset segregation to capital requirements and liability allocation. Share perspectives on how your firm is adapting custody strategies to meet regulatory scrutiny.
